I just figured it was about time I changed the main journal entry LOL

I went to go see my dermatologist last Thursday morning.  I haven't seen her in about three years. I hate doctors as a rule, but they wouldn't refill my prescription until I went in for an office visit.

I have moderate to severe psoriasis and honestly I'd been thinking about going in for a checkup anyway recently since I started seeing the commercials on TV for Enbrel so I figured it was the universe giving me a kick in the ass.

Hows this for a kick in the ass?  I have Psoriatic Arthritis.  GO me.  Hands, wrists, elbows one shoulder and possibly my knees tho that joint pain could just be from years of cartilege abuse. Yep she's going to prescribe Enbrel. I had to go submit to human pin cushioning and let the nurse take four freaking full vials of blood so now I have a bruise the size of a quarter on the inside of my elbow and two lovely flaming red stripes along side it because I am allergic to the adhesive they use in surgical tape. (no it's not as uncommon as you'd think so my OB/GYN tells me) I have to go on Monday to have the PPT implanted for the TB test so they can read that on Thursday and, if all my bloodwork comes back fine (meaning they don't find Hepatitis, AIDS or any other immune disease, which if they do is a WHOLE 'nother problem folks...) I'll get my first dose Thursday at the office.  It's a self injection twice a week for the first 12 weeks then once a week thereafter. Comes in something that functions much like an insulin pen.

Here's the only catch folks.  My insurance may not cover Enbrel.  MAY not, we have to find out. Meanwhile the drug company has a program where they'll give me the first five weeks free while I wait. And possibly if it's not covered another five weeks after that. After THAT it's anyone's guess but she did say there were programs we could try. Since Enbrel runs over a thousand dollars.

And here's where that unwritten rule comes into play...Is it an unwritten rule that as soon as you get a positive diagnosis on something it flares up? My fingers, wrists and shoulder hurt like a motherfucker tonight. Which of course makes me feel like the worlds worst hypochondriac...yes I know i have issues....

To top it all off it started raining thursday night and didn't quit til Sunday evening...yeah...i HURT....
